The Collaborative Research Center SFB738 "Optimization of conventional and innovative transplants" launches a new site. Our new site is easy to navigate and provides insight into the complex field of transplantation medicine. We have set a goal to communicate about our research with a broad audience. Multimedia features allow a more dynamic and interactive approach to scientific content. Our new movie showcases the different perspectives of patients, doctors, scientists and staff involved in our research center and addresses the challenges our society continues to face in transplantation medicine.

Chugai Science Award Oncologie goes to Wolfgang Koestner

Dr. Wolfgang Koestner from the group of Prof. Martin Sauer (project A3) was awarded with this year's Chugai Science Award.
Allogeneic bone marrow transplantation is a potentially curative treatment option for certain types of leukemias. This anti-leukemic effect is mediated by donor-derived immune cells, primarily T cells, that mount an attack against leukemic cells of the patient. Genetic engineering of T cells can be used to increase the frequency of anti-leukemic cells and thereby to strengthen anti-leukemic responses.

DFG approves second funding period

DFG approves second funding period

The German Research Foundation (DFG) approves a second funding period from 2011-2015 for the Collaborative Research Center 738 "Optimization of conventional and innovative transplants". This Research Center focuses on improving longevity of solid organs after transplantation and finding alternatives to conventional transplantation such as stem cell therapies.
